Do the traditions of Easter have anything to do with the resurrection?

The customs of Easter involving bunnies, colored eggs, candles, and lilies were all adapted from pagan religions, as was the name Easter itself. None of these things have anything to do with the resurrection of Jesus, which Easter purports to represent. Does it matter? Yes. God’s Word commands us to separate ourselves from false religion and to “worship the Father with spirit and truth.”—John 4:23; 2 Corinthians 6:17.

While I don't think God really cares that people celebrate spring and the fact that their herds if animals are mating and they will have plenty.

God does care that people do this under the cover of Jesus! If your going to celebrate Easter (estrus) time of animals in heat.

Either celebrate only Jesus resurrection with great respect.

Or go celebrate that it's spring and your animals are breeding and you will have plenty and thank God for the blessing!

But don't mix animals in heat.

    With Jesus salvation highly disrespectful.

Same with Christmas nothing wrong with having a pig hunt and a big winter party and handing out gifts.

But don't call it Jesus birthday he was born November 6 4am like any Bible student can point out. That a story for Christmas.

    Happy Easter...

    Or happy resurrection day

You will be given a great deal of clarity if you consider Christ as the Sun moving through the zodiac. 12 disciples-12 astrological signs of the sun. The resurrection represents the spring equinox and the "light conquering darkness". It's the point that the sun goes from the dark half of the year to the light. The point where the days become longer than the nights.

Christmas is similarly a celebration of the "birth" of the Sun from its lowest point in the sky on the winter solstice is usually on the 21st. And after "three days and three nights" Christ is "resurrected" on Christmas. The resurrection and birthday stories were muddied together and the dates were actually initially vice versa, with Christ being born on the Equinox.

I highly recommend looking into "the light of the world" being the Sun, as this will cause you to feel much more intimately related with the scripture than some kind of confused and unworthy outsider.

It is because the Christians hijacked Easter and Christmas for Jesus. It is about time we started celebrating the true meaning of Easter and Christmas just like it was before Jesus.

This are central to Easter as secular pointers to the spiritual. It is false religion if you OPPOSE them.

I think it's vitally important that all pastors and ministers educate their members about the pagan origins of easter and teach only the Biblical account of the Passover.

However, when it comes to the rest of the world, we can use the christmas and easter celebrations to plant seeds of truth into the lives of unbelievers so that they are gently introduced to Truth one tiny fact at a time.

Resurrection Sunday is the Day of the Lord and all believers rejoice in His resurrection. Easter bunny etc are product of commercialism... the chocolate co. e.g. Mars bar made tons of $$ It promotes commerce and help some people to make business and a living. If it is pagan, it has nothing to do with Resurrection Sunday and you erred in understanding.

Go buy easter chocolate eggs and donate it for Easter Hunt. It is fun.

    1) Do the traditions of Easter have anything to do with the resurrection?

There are many "traditions of Easter".

Many - probably most - are culturally specific.

Many (mostly those which are NOT culturally specific) have *much* to do with the Resurrection.

If you think that NONE of the traditions associated with Easter have anything to do with the Resurrection, then you are very ignorant of Easter and/or the traditions associated with it.

    2) The customs of Easter involving bunnies, colored eggs, candles, and lilies were all adapted from pagan religions, as was the name Easter itself.

I don't believe that is true of candles (though I might be mistaken).

I accept the claims regarding the other customs.

    I point out

#1 - that you have barely scratched the surface, that you have mentioned extremely few of the customs associated with Easter.

#2 - that several of the customs that you have mentioned are culturally-specific and are not employed by many Christians in the celebration of Easter

#3 - that (as far as I know) only in two languages (German, English) does the word for "Easter" have a pagan origin, and for the great majority of Christians the word for the Easter celebration does NOT have any pagan origin

    3) None of these things have anything to do with the resurrection of Jesus, which Easter purports to represent.

Not merely "purports", and not "represent". Easter **by definition** is the commemoration of the Resurrection. That is what the word **actually and literally means** in the English language. It is not merely purported to mean such a thing.
