Sharp throat pain and sharp pain down chest when eating?
It only started yesterday afternoon but when I was eating and swallowed some food I would get a tiny sharp pain for just a second at the back of my throat, and down the centre of my chest I would get sharp stabbing pains. It has happened again this morning but less strongly and without the throat pain, and I've had a lot of trapped wind (I normally do but there's more than usual). I had come back from the gym yesterday where I did a 15 minute run and some weight and a 10 minute cycle, if that's important. I was told it may be acid reflux but apparently at 18 I'm too young to have that. I'm a 5'5" Female, 62kg. Thank you in advance for any help.

You may be young for acid reflux (that is an ongoing problem, too), but anyone can get indigestion. Try an anti-gas pill - available at drugstores. It's good to have those in your medicine cabinet. If you're miserable right now and can't get to a store try 1/2-1 tsp baking soda in a cup of water. This can make you burp, but it's VERY loaded with salt so don't do it often. Better to have some Tums on hand.
If it continues or reoccurs, try keeping a food journal of what you are eating and see if you can track down some foods that just don't agree with you. They don't have to be obvious things like lots of grease, or chocolate, or hot sauce. It might be a very common fruit, vegetable, dairy, or meat. Remember, a food you eat affects your system for about three days.
Also, if it continues or gets worse, see your doctor. We aren't doctors, and doctors won't diagnose you over the web anyway. So we can't diagnose and it's always better to be safe than sorry. Take good care of yourself, and good luck.
