Plain old fashioned learning for one thing, and also love and human interaction.

Making mistakes in dong things anything social behavior or work related things or leaning and correcting the mistakes to do things more successfully the second time. So always trying to succeed at what you do and never giving up on a task that is worthwhile. Learn something new everyday and never stop learning new things no matter how old you get and you will never really get old at least on the inside.

Making mistakes. When I was a teenager I was extremely judgemental and self-righteous. Living took care of that. The more mistakes I made the more understanding, tolerant, charitable, and forgiving I became. I suppose another way of saying this is I became wiser. Now, I look back at the man I was and, were it not for the fact that I am more tolerant now, I'm sure I would despise him today. I suppose it's only natural to regret the mistakes we make in life. We all want to be perfect. But without mistakes we cannot understand the world, and we cannot understand how others suffer as we have. I do regret the many things I've done, but in a perverse way, I'm also grateful too. They've taught me how to live and they've taught me how to forgive. There's an old Japanese saying that I've quoted here before: "Pain makes man think; thought makes man wise; and wisdom makes life endurable."
