When I give it gas and turn to the right it makes a knocking noise. I need to know what to look for on the front end to be able to fix it. What could it be??

tick tick tick = bad cvaxle joints or just replace the hole cvaxle shaft its easier and chep to buy. besides it comes with lifetime warranty.

it the sound is a solid clunk inspect all suspension parts, speciallyball joints, upper and lower followed by inspecting all suspension rubber bushings and engine and transmission mounts. if your car a radius rod(rod that connects to the front crossmenber and lower control arm at the front) inspect its bushings as well.

It's the left hand cv joint. I replaced one on the wife's car. Take my advise do not buy the cheap ones. I bought one for £48 from a car spares shop (not a scrap yard) when I tried to fit it to the drive shaft it would not fit onto the splines. What a waste of time and effort.

I got one from the dealer £258+vat. Wow I said to the guy at the dealer. "Stone me I only want one"he said "that's bargin priced sir"however I know it's good for a few years yet. They are easy to fit, if you have a torque wrench. The drive shaft nut needs to be replaced. The torque setting is 181lbf-ft. The nut size 24 x 1.5mm with engine H22A7

141lbf-ft. The nut size 22 x 1.5mm without engine H22A7 ensure you also get a new snap ring

To separate the cv from the drive shaft used a soft faced mallet and hit it from the inboard side. It can be done with the drive shaft in place. Do not pull on the drive shaft. Make sure it's also supported.

That's the way you check a CV joint to find out if it's bad. Replace the complete axle instead of just the outer CV joint. It's cheaper that way because of all the companies making after market replacements. Advance Auto has a good product and price.
