Should I go to college or take a gap year?

I had my heart set at this once college that I didn't get into. I was thinking that I should take a gap year (just a local job not one of those fancy ones in Australia) and reapply (but this time actually study for the SAT). My parents want me to go to a local college that I have no interest in going to. Should I jut go and transfer out after two years, stay all 4, or take a gap year and reapply?

Update:

What about the army? Or even the foreign legion since it's for fuckups like me

"I had my heart set at this one college that I didn't get into." Did you know that a fair number of acceptees to said college leave home and then don't show up for class, don't do their homework, stay up until 3-4AM, stay drunk or stoned all the time, and then flunk out? And that college needs to accept new people, usually from Community college, to fill up those empty spaces? I would recommend attending Community college in the fall, and then apply to transfer to your preferred college. They will likely accept you if you do well in community college. Good luck.
