    Yes - The Great Migration began at that time. It ended in 1970.

    The NAACP led an attempt to ban or censor the film before its release. Many newspapers printed negative criticism.

    No, it was just considered history and factual.

    In many places, yes. Many big-city newspapers wrote editorials condemning the movie and several cities banned it in their their theaters outright.
