Is this poem [The Old War Horse] a certain type and what would you rate it scale 1-10 with 10 being the best, eh?
The Old War Horse
i. the thought
don't ask me why ?
can't answer the query
on why we do the things
we do.
ii. the presage
i came home from a....
let's say a man to man.
after all the battles in
life, blood spilled and
freedom in the balance,
paid in full; at least now
i know my fate. i felt
a juxtaposition of my ken.
iii. the act
transport in lock down,
sliding off the smooth leather
i faced her, or was it him?
i saunter over to her/him
and embrace; been years
but tears found an escape
I rubbed her like a horse's mane
relaxed my head on her sturdy but
soft shouldered skin, and said
"thank you my friend"
we both know our fate, but
still soldier on.
iv. proclamation
i am no tree hugger, but she's
different. What I breathe she
exhales. I need her, appreciate
her, and felt peace in my heart

Author's Note
A summer several years ago we had
40 straight days over 100° heat, often
over 110°. My War Horse took a beating
on the west side and is dying, yet still
proudly stands tall and strong.

Check into grafting.
it may be an option
You could live with
Grafting a wild olive
In to the olive tree
Tree doctors do wonders
And many people think
trees are connnected
So when you hugged that tree
A Forrest hugged you back
So you might still
Keep your tree grafted into another
Or just a limb in rooting compound
Can grow a whole new tree
