When is best time to buy airlines tickets for Christmas?

Buy now or in coming days. End of year airfares won't go down. This is a peak season with high airfares worldwide.

End of December is also a time when airfares vary dramatically from one day to the next. This will be again so this year because Christmas is Monday. When you rent a house, I presume that your travel days are strictly fixed. You probably can't choose another travel day if it happens that your scheduled travel day is too expensive. That is another reason to book early when prices are still affordable.

-- Be aware that most budget airlines are not included in travel sites that compare airfares.

-- Be aware that most/all budget airlines show cheap air tickets, but they charge any additional service (checked baggage, drink and food, and so on) so that the total amount to pay may be higher than airfares from standard airlines in some cases.

As soon as you can. Try and wait for low prices will see the flights sold out. Just before Christmas is the busiest time of year for airlines.
