Why do Christians pick and choose the parts of the Bible the lick and dislike.?

Very few actually get down to the nuts and bolts of what Jesus taught. Most of the separations in Christianity have nothing to do with what Jesus actually taught. The separations are caused by a desire to prove intellectual superiority.

Which is the same thing that causes you to post this question!

This goes counter two basic building blocks that Jesus taught and lived. Those two basic building blocks are meekness and humility. The only place today that actual meekness and humility are stressed to the point they become an asset is in 12 step groups. These groups actually practice a more pure form of Christianity then most Christians could even imagine.

It took AA for me to understand the real essence of Christianity and I am not alone. But with out including Christ in the picture it just doesn't work as well.

The reality is you don't really want to care, you just use this as an excuse.

The old testament relates to us spiritually. The new testament Jesus made new laws that corresponded to the old. You must love Jehovah with your whole heart, soul and mind and the second greatest is like this, have love among yourselves. Lots of love and peace should be with us all.

I takes time. It takes a good teacher. There isn't a substitute for dedication, and not being afraid to be wrong about something. Being flexible and all that.

That's how they have been potty trained.

It's because the good parts support their delusion, and the bad parts bring the validity of their beliefs into question, so they ignore them, or say that they don't matter.
