Is AMWAY a scam?

My friend asked me if i wanted to join AMWAY. I said i don't really know what that is, and he said it was a business venture & he made lots of money about it. So i told my Mom and she said, "oh, stay away from that!". So I said to my friend "i'm not interested, thanks anyway". Then he got real mad and said, "you'll be sorry, jerkface!" and stormed off. So the next day i found these strange drawings stuck under my car's windshield wipers - drawings of a person being stabbed and bleeding. And a few days later two of my tires were flat one morning, and later that day there were two men (i did not know them) wearing suits and sunglasses following me down the sidewalk. I called my friend and asked if he knew about this stuff but he just laughed and hanged up the phone.

I agree with your mother because Amway is like a pyramid scheme. Some money can be made but you would have to recruit other people from whom y0u would make your commission. Your 'friend' was trying to sucker you in so he could make money off you. Only the first few people in an area make any money.

You can't blame Amway for what's been happening to your car. Blame your "friend".

Amway is not a scam. Amway is a national business that has been around for years and years. At one time, it involved door-to-door sales of home cleaning supplies (sort of like selling Avon products). Today, it doesn't depend upon door-to-door sales. Amway has an internet site, and you can order Amway products from your computer.

Call the police immediately. Show them the flyers you got and take pictures of your slashed tires. Take pictures of anyone following you and turn them over to the police. Report your friend's threats to the police as well

He is not a friend, he's sick. Keep away from him and his Amway. That's selling stuff to people that people don't really want like cleaning solutions and stuff. Walmart sells cheaper. No one wants to buy that stuff whatever you sold he would get a percentage in other words he would make more money than you. Watch your back and if it continues call the police and don't forget to inform your parents of what's been happening.

i've looked at Amway and at least a dozen other MLMs.

Here is my criteria for being interested: 1) can one sell the products or services successfully to ordinary people? Is the offering either unique in the market place and useful to many, or is it a better value proposition than the competition? AND 2) can I, personally, see myself selling the product or service to complete strangers?

I also looked at how the top successes in multiple different MLMs "moved up the chain" to become the leaders. In each case I found, the real key to moving up was to build a line in program A, then take your whole line over to newer and smaller program B and repeat the massive recruiting effort to build a line. Rinse, repeat. No one I was able to identify ever became hugely successful in fewer than three different MLMs. Even the Amway founders did this ... starting their company by moving an entire group of people over from a different organization and placing themselves at the top of Amway [along with owning the factory that made their original laundry powder product].

By these criteria, Amway didn't make the cut. Imho, their products are not unique and do not offer a superior value proposition over competing products sold in the usual stores.
