Why are you called, "Jehovah's Witnesses" and not "Christians"?

Jesus said it is for this reason I have come.

To make know my father's name and I will make it known!

Therefore that makes Jesus the servant that Jehovah spoke of you are my witness my searvant in whom I have approved.

That makes Jesus Christ a Jehovah's witness!

That's who we are ! Those who witness about Jehovah.

Actually our full name is Jehovah's Christian Witnesses.

Jehovahs Witnesses ARE Christians.

God's name is Jehovah and that is why we have taken the name Jehovah's witnesses.

Isaiah 43:10

10 “You are my witnesses,”+ declares Jehovah,

“Yes, my servant whom I have chosen,+

So that you may know and have faith in me*

And understand that I am the same One.+

Before me no God was formed,

And after me there has been none.

Catholics are called Catholics, not Christians; Protestants are called Protestants, not Christians. Lutherans are called Lutherans, not Christians. Methodists are called Methodists, not Christians. Yet all of these claim to be Christians, followers of Christ.

Jehovah's Witnesses are called Jehovah's Witnesses, not Christians. Yet they are the true Christians, the true followers of Christ Jesus.

From their official web site, under frequently asked questions, they say that they "believe Jehovah is the personal name of God. A witness is a person who proclaims views or truths of which he is convinced.

Thus, our name Jehovah’s Witnesses designates us as a group of Christians who proclaim the truth about Jehovah, the Creator of all things. (Revelation 4:11) We witness to others by the way we live our lives and by sharing with them what we’ve learned from the Bible.—Isaiah 43:10-12; 1 Peter 2:12."

So they witness about Jehovah and that's why they are called Jehovah's Witnesses.

On the other hand, Christians witness about Christ Jesus, as the book of Acts testify. Indeed, Peter went so far as to say that "salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

And what name is that? Is it the name Jehovah? Hardly, given that name did not exist till the 13th century. Why, it is the name of Christ Jesus! That's why Christians are called Christians. They were first called Christians at Antioch (circa 47 C.E.)

Those first Christians would not recognise the Jesus of Jehovah's Witnesses. That's because Jesus is not a created angel called Michael and because Jesus was bodily resurrected. Jehovah's Witnesses can not witness about Christ Jesus because they don't know who he REALLY is.

Edit: The name Jehovah was unknown to all the Old Testament prophets and New Testament Christians. Even the Foreword in the first NWT KIT (the purple one) admitted that Yahweh is probably the closest we get to God's name.

Who Are We?

We come from hundreds of ethnic and language backgrounds. Yet we are united by common goals.

Above all we want to honor Jehovah, the God of the Bible and the Creator of all things.

We do our best to imitate Jesus Christ and are proud to be called Christians.

Each of us regularly spends time helping people learn about the Bible and God's Kingdom.

Because we witness, or talk about Jehovah God and his Kingdom, we are known as Jehovah's Witnesses.

We are the Christian congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

The bible actually says "ye shall be my witnesses." It does NOT say "ye shall be called my witnesses."

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

Jehovah, while it is found in the King James version of the bible, is an invention from the 16th century, and a corruption of Yhwh, which may have been pronounced "Yahweh"

Is "Southern Baptist" in the Bible?

Because Pastor Charles Taze Roussel burned the film as "students of the Bible" thanks to false prophecies and his successor created the new name "Jehovah's Witnesses" to make us forget the false prophecies of Bible students.
