hdmi cable versus hdmi>dvi cable question?

Update:

how much of a difference is there VISUALLY(text and images) between using an hdmi cable versus an hdmi>dvi cable.

i just bought a monitor that is hdmi/dp only and my video card is dvi only, but i had a hdmi>dvi cable already and opted to use it instead of buying a hdmi cable. images and texts look pretty damn good. would there be a significant difference if i got an hdmi cable instead(which would necessitate me getting a new card too)

Visually, there should be no difference unless you're wanting to use a higher resolution that DisplayPort and high-speed HDMI can support, in which case a DVI connection could be a limiting factor.

No difference. HDMI is a superset of DVI. Display Port is a superset (sorta) of HDMI.
