How many countries that are small/average but have powerful allies?
By small/average I mean in terms of wealth and strength not land size. For example South Korea is a pretty average and decent country and they have the US as one of it's or only main ally. Another example is North Korea which is a very poor average country but it has China as its main ally. How many more countries are in a situation like this? I'm curious.

Costa Rica comes to mind. Costa Rica is a tiny country and does not have an army. However, they have a pact with the United States that the U.S. will come to their defense if anyone else invades or attacks. The U.S. has a similar agreement with Iceland, and also provides defense to the Marshall Islands, as well as the Federated States of Micronesia.
Monaco is protected by France, Samoa is protected by New Zealand, Kiribati is protected by Australia and New Zealand. Andorra has treaties with France and Spain for their protection

South Korea is not small in terms of wealth. The U.S. wants to keep them armed as a bulwark against Chinese military ambitions. China is not an ally of DPRK. They border each other and China is giving people humanitarian assistance since the U.S. wont sell them food and fuel. Every nation has some powerful allies in the world. The U.S. chooses its allies by who can serve U.S. interests.
