Car's dealership or Goodyear for tire replacement?

I don't know much about cars or have experienced these of services before. I need to replace my 4 tires soon and I don't know where to go. I was thinking of going to my car dealership to be protected by their warranty but the price is a bit higher than some of these independent businesses. Can I get some advices please?

The tire manufacturer warrants the tires, not the dealership.

List the make, model, year and miles.

Decide what type of tires you need and try to narrow it down to a brand.

You really have three categories of tires, name brand premium, name brand medium price, and generic brand.

Unless you are on really tight budget, I would avoid the generic brand tires.

A chain store is usually going to have a better price than the dealer, and the warranty will be by the tire company. And you can buy additional tire insurance - called road hazard protection, or something like that.

    Shop around.

Goodyear makes good tire and has price ranges of high - medium.

Bridgestone, Michelin, and Continental, are other good brands.

My suggestion - Cooper Tires. I have used them for years on a number cars.

Also look for Mastercraft tires, those are made by Cooper, but not as widely distributed.

Car dealerships are the last place anyone should buy a tire. Goodyear tires are at the high end of tire price ranges. Visit the National Tire and Battery web site. I always shop there first. There is plenty to pick from and with a range of prices. Pay for the road hazard warranty.

Use a dealer for a new car purchase or in-warranty repairs only. In just about every other scenario you are just throwing your money away.

If you travel a national chain offers security, but don't put their best people on tires and oil change maintenance. Independents have a name and business to live up to, not just a job. Dealers? I've never been at one for less then 4 hours for maintenance. Do you value your time? Cheapest aint always the best.

Sadly you have not given your approximate location or even which country you are in .

Generally it is better in terms of price it is better to avoid car dealers as much as possible as they will almost always be the most expensive. The warranty given by a dealer will be no better, though no worse, than an independent tyre specialist.

Tyre specialists have employees who do loads of tyres every day but dealer will do very few or even do none and have an outside contractor do the work.

Better to get a recommendation of which tyre specialist place to use from a trusted friend.
