    As mentioned above, that's the "ideal" situation and would rarely occur in nature. Regardless, it sets a fair baseline when talking about populations and genetics!

    o We don't mate randomly. This leads to "distinctive subpopulations."

    o Some distinctive subpopulations reproduce at a greater rate than others.

    Allele frequencies are therefore changing in the human population as a whole, and thus we are not at Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium for plenty of gene loci.
