Do you have to pass kidney stone?

I live in Canada so hospital costs aren't trouble for me, but if I had kidney stones and they could diagnose it could they just surgically remove it or put me on medication to at least reduce the size of it so it wouldn't hurt. I hear kidney stones are painful.

They are very painful. I had a small one about 10 years ago....OUCH. If you have larger ones, you may need lithotripsy. They put you into a tub of water and send sound waves through your kidneys to bust the stones apart, making them much, much easier to pass. Don't worry, it's not painful.

Well, that is the most common way. And hospitals really do not want to 'go in there' and remove it themselves. So yes, it Can be painful.
