What's the difference between perfect and pluperfect forms of a verb?

    Perfect uses 'have', plusperfect uses 'had'. Plusperfect tends to be further back in time.

    I have eaten all of my vegetables.

    I had eaten all of my vegetables before I was told they were out of date.

    Both present perfect and pluperfect talk about something that happened before a point in time (reference point).

    In the present perfect, our reference point is the present. In the pluperfect, our reference point is in the past. Present perfect: HAVE / HAS + past participle & Pluperfect: HAD + past participle.
