Submitted; Not Selected Meaning?

I just applied to two jobs on a website and when I checked the status directly after submitting my application it says "Submitted; Not Selected." Now its 5 AM here on a Sunday and I know no human being read my application in a minute and rejected me. Do you think it got auto-rejected or something? I did get an email saying someone would review my application, so would the "Submitted" part change to "Reviewed" or what?

    It was submitted and you were auto-selected to not go any farther.

    That's one of the problems with the trend towards online applications. The software is programmed to reject you if you checked a certain box or didn't check another. All in the name of efficiency but it's very cold blooded.

    You were rejected before you could even get your foot in the door so you might as well move on.

    Many places, the initial screen is done by computers, and they work 24/7.

    Means just what it says your app got submitted but not selected to go further.
