Why do babies have erections?

Short Answer: Because they're healthy.

Little boys (AND girls) get erections - especially during sleep - but the old saying "If it feels good do it" kind of applies here. If their diaper rubs a specific way, when you're bathing them and washing that area, etc. it simply feels good and the child will get an erection. As infants, toddlers, and young children it's NOT about sex. It's just an automatic response to that "good" feeling. Even into adulthood, an erection is not ALWAYS about sex, either.

A healthy male (AND female) will have 3-5 erections per night. It's perfectly normal...and again, NOT necessarily related to sex.

The only reason it's not *easily* noticed in females is - of course - because the clitoris is so small to begin with.

Young, old, male or female...erections happen. If they don't, it could be a sign there's something wrong with their basic bodily functions.

All boys get erections, even in the womb! They occur due to a change in temperature when they are undressed for a bath or to change a diaper/nappy. They also occur when the bladder is full and puts pressure on the nerves which also cause erections.

Baby penises have spongy tissue just like adult penises do, and if there's increased blood flow to the area then you get little a baby *****. It's normal, doesn't mean anything other than the baby has an anatomically normal penis.

I had erections at a young age.
