WTF is "Abusive Speech"?

See, this is the problem when you try to have carve outs to the right of FREE Speech. The minute you carve out things like "Hate Speech" or "Abusive Speech", you have to appoint someone to arbitrarily sit in judgement of exactly what is and is not meant by those terms.

We call that Fascism.

I've never liked UC Berkeley, even when I worked as adjunct faculty for their extension program. The UCB faculty and executive management are two-faced, saying one thing and doing the reverse...like the so-called free speech on campus.

It is ironic that the very campus where the free speech movement began in the 1960s with Mario Savio is the same campus that today cannot allow free speech to happen.

I find it ironic that they ban people for abusive speech while their students deliver the same type of abusive speech against anyone who doesn't agree with their point of view.

There is nothing 'alt right' about Richard Dawkins.

He denies having said anything abusive about Islam and those who claim he did so have failed to provide evidence of any sort.

Richard Dawkins speaks out against religion in general or, more to the point, he talk positively and fluently about science and rationality and using our brains. I realise such ideas are offensive to some people .... but to ban him on the basis of a lie seems indefensible.

I am quite glad that Berkeley students are sheltered and cannot handle diversity of opinions. It makes them less competition for people like me for jobs in the real world.

I hope this spreads to all colleges so that business drops college degree requirements for many positions to give the poor and uneducated a shot.
