What happens to those who never hear of Jesus?
If a belief in Jesus is required for salvation then what do you believe happens to people who have never heard of god? For example African tribes who have never met a Westerner? Will they go to hell for a lack of belief in a being they've never heard of?

Consider the Old Testament holy men and prophets, who were never Christians during their lifetimes:
- Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Isaiah, etc.
I don't know any Christian who believes that they are eternally doomed.
I don't know any Christian who believes they will not one day enjoy eternal paradise.
So: one does not ***need*** to be a Christian during their lifetime in order to receive eternal paradise.
However - according to Christian doctrine - following Christianity sincerely and devoutly *guarantees* a person eternal paradise. Without Christianity, a person has no guarantee of salvation and must hope for the undeserved mercy of God.

God will deal with them justly. He has not left them without a witness, in any case, according to St. Paul:
"For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
"Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
"In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel." Romans 2:14-16
It seems to me that those who have never heard the true gospel are in a better position than those who have heard and have rejected it.
Jesus came into the world to reconcile us to God, by being unjustly put to an unjust death by unjust men -- showing Satan's dominion to be the web of lies, deception, and hatred that it really is. "Be ye reconciled to God." (2 Cor 5:20)
Forgive me.

The good news of the Kingdom has been preached in all the inhabited earth as was commanded in Matt 24:14.....therefore it's hard to believe that anyone hasn't heard of Jesus.

Jehovah God and his Son Jesus Christ knows the hearts of all people, 1 Samuel 16: 7, and God will not bring the end until the, "good news of the Kingdom has been preached in all the nations, and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14. And for those who have died not knowing Jehovah God nor Jesus Christ, the Bible teaches they will be brought back to life by means of a resurrection. Acts 24:15, "And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteousness." We never have to worry if God will do the right thing. Genesis 18:25

Jesus didnt come from the west... I dont get your question of "african tribes who have never met a westerner"... surely you know Jesus was middle eastern.. He also probably visited many Eastern African nations.. it was within a boats or camel ride near.. anyways.. to answer you. God sent prophets to all nations all through time. somewhere in each culture there was a God sent prophet, maybe there are snippets of their recent faith that shows little things that resemble all faiths.. They probablyjust changed it a bit.. God wouldnt have let Africa without a prophet either.. Jesus was a prophet sent ONLY to the lost tribes of Israel.. he says that in the bible.. He wasnt sent to the whole of mankind.. He came to clean up the faith that Moses orignally brought, but they sort of distorted it.. Then came Mohammed who brought back the same faith that got a bit distorted again from jews and christians.. Gods message has always been around from Adam and will be till the last humans here.. ^_^

What happens to those who never hear of Jesus--
Same thing that happens to Christians. All living things die. Just die. Nothing more.

Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.” Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?” Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.
