How come Americans think whatever party is in power is monsterous. Don't they understand both are evil?

I am reading George Orwell's 1984. Doublethink equates evil with good. The Party is not a structure but an idea the pervades across all classes. Your thoughts are a contradiction, lies are truth and truth is a lie. Contradiction erases sanity and illusion becomes reality. The masses speak all the same words and so nothing is said. The Party changes the past and history is fiction. People should stop and reflect disregard the Party's nonsense and liberate themselves, for only then will we be free.

The voters should not lose faith in democracy. No one is perfect, but democracy is the best system so far. Within the parties there are good and evil elements. The majority prefer good to corrupt.
