What Can I Eat to Stay Full At Work?

I started a new job working at a car wash. I work full time, and spend my whole day out in the heat scrubbing and drying cars, so I burn through my energy very quickly.

The problem is, I'm one of those people that has to eat a lot of small meals throughout the day. If I go too long without eating, I get horrible hunger pains and feel lightheaded and weak.

At this job, if you're scheduled after 12pm, you don't get a lunch break at all. Yesterday I went in at 1pm and didn't get off until 8. Luckily it was a slow day so I they let me take a break. But even then I still had to fight my hunger while I worked.

Now I'm worried what I'll do when it's busy and I have to work 8 hours without being able to eat. They allow us to drink anything we want while we work, but I don't think I'm allowed to eat while I work, because the place just got new owners, and my coworkers told me they're pretty strict.

Any suggestions on how I can get some nutrition to be able to go 8 hours without eating?

I think by law you are entitled to breaks. Fifteen breaks every 2 - 3 hours and a lunch break if you work over something like 4 - 5 hours. find out the phone number to the local labor board or send an email to the EOCC or FEPA.

In the meantime you want to carb load a few hours before you go to work. or even the night before.

    think big bowls of spaghetti.

Make yourself small hand size bags of nuts and dried fruit. also PB&J sandwiches cut into quarters. and bananas and apples cut into quarters. you should be able to eat those on the sly and they will curb your hunger. Another good idea might be a thermos filled with ice cold milk or Kiefer or liquid yogurt.

No matter how busy a company is they are entitled to provide employees with sufficient breaks. You should NOT have to work 8 hours with no breaks, it is illegal. Most company's offer a total of 60 - 90 minutes break for an 8 hour shift however it varies slightly from firm to firm. In summary you shouldn't have to change your eating habits for the sake of a job, if a company is unwilling to provide breaks for their workers to eat and drink then in my opinion you should not stay at that job.
