I know how to do things in Algebra 1 I just don't know there official name, is this a problem?

I am studying algebra 1 and I know most of the content just not the name of the each part of the content, like for instance I know how to evaluate an expression with one variable but I didn't know the name of what I was doing was evaluating an expression with one variable

Not a real problem. If you like, find a tutorial web site with topic headings and look at them. You are not creating a test or grading a test so no need to worry. However it does help to know some abstract technical vocabulary of algebra. For example, what is a distributive law? What does commute mean? What is an identity element?

In practical application it is not a problem. In teaching and testing it is a problem. I have a similar problem. But I've been out of school for years. I'm not a teacher; I'm not being tested. I just have to do the work.
