What advantages might an NHL team on the road encounter?
As opposed to the team with home ice? Rumor has it weather can actually have an important effect on conditions indoors. If Denver happens to be "rainier than normal," would a team from humid conditions like the Tampa Bay Lightning be more inclined to beat the Avalanche there at Pepsi Center (since the Avalanche players would likely not be used to such conditions)? Thanks!

In addition to what others have said there is also the fact that controversial ( AKA wrong, bad or borderline ) calls tend to go in favor of the home team, it's probably not like this as much now that they have replay review but it's still a thing.

A road team would benefit from not having the usual distractions of playing at home- no wives/spouses/girlfriends/kids, transportation is arranged, no need to worry about preparing meals.
