Sincere, non-trolling question regarding Muslim Prayer. I noticed that Muslims turn their head side to side during prayers. Why?

I heard its only at the end of prayer to salam to the left and right. It's like saying good bye to god the muslim way.

The side-to-side head gesture is accompanied with the phrase "As Salamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah" (meaning: 'Peace be upon you and the Mercy of God'). So by turning our head to the left, we are saying this to everyone to the left of us, including the person sitting next to you and the Angels to the left. And vice versa.. saying salam (peace) to everyone to the right of us when we turn our head right and say it.

Good question :) Feel free to ask more if you have any.

They check both ways to make sure none of their muslim bros and sisters are driving a car towards them to run em over while they pray.

We Muslims turn our heads to the right and left and we say this words "Aalamu alaykum wa rahmut Allah" meaning "Peace be upon and you and the blessing of Allah" when we finish prayer. We do this so we can bless our brothers praying on the right and left and so we can clean our sins.

When I pray I say the words in my heart we don't have to say them loudly.

The Islamic scholars state a few things. What we say is "Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullah" to each side.

    1. If we are in congregation it is like a Salam to the Muslims to our right and left (if I recall).

    2. We have one angel on our left side and right side recording our deeds.

    3. This is how the Prophet (s) did the prayer, and we follow him.

At the end they do that and say "Salam Alaykom". Peace be upon you. To those on their left and right
