    According to the bible, two.

Matthew 18:19 Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

According to reality, praying may make you feel good, but it doesn't change the course of events in any perceptible or measurable way.

We know from Scripture, disasters will increase in frequency and intensity,. We see this happening. Signs of the times. The balance is off .

You have it backwards, as usual. It takes nothing to do what will happen anyway.

The key is to go through it as a child of God, not trying to 'get out of it'..

When bad things happen, it is because we live on a cursed planet.

And you cannot "pray away" the curse of sin. Here's my "standard answer" when people ask why bad things happen.

    -- -- -- -- --

I assume you are aware of the sin rebellion that happened around 6,000 years ago. And as a result, God cursed this earth. The curse of sin follows us. And all the bad things that go with that curse of sin.

Everything bad that happens is the result of the curse of sin.

It is as if God is trying to teach us something about SIN and REBELLION. We are living in a giant object lesson. And we are the objects of this lesson. ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT GOD IS TRYING TO TEACH YOU?

How much more "bad stuff" do you need to see and/or experience before the TRUTH sinks in?

Of course, someday the curse of sin will be removed, and then we will see the contrast between the two worlds.

For those people who have accepted the FREE GIFT of God's redemption, there will be a very happy ending. (Except it doesn't end, and continues for an eternity.) For the others, well, not so good.

And that's why we are trying to spread the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ.

Everyone needs to repent, turn from their evil ways, and follow Jesus. And then we can be "saved." Saved from the consequences of our sins.

    --- (A Yahoo! User)

P.S. We look at something like a hurricane, and say it is all part of living in the natural world. And that is true. But our "natural world" is not the way that God created it. In the world that God created, there were NO HURRICANES. And NO TORNADOES. And no droughts, and no floods, and no thunderstorms. God created a perfect ECO system. Plants were watered from underground springs. No one ate meat, no one ever got a sun burn, and the average life span was around 900 years. Everyone on the earth spoke the same language. Life was very different prior to the curse of sin, and prior to the global flood back in Noah's day. It was so different back then that it is hard to imagine.

Hurricanes are ordained by God and that is up to his will, not ours. He will respond to just 1 prayer if he feels it is appropriate.

You can't pray a storm away. God alone controls the weather. If God sends a hurricane, the only thing you can do is get out of the way. Natural disasters are considered an act of God. Natural disasters are not man-made.

It doesn't work that way. However, God will give you the courage to face adversity when you need it.
