Can you download a windows XP program (from a disk) onto windows 10 (if you never started with an OS older than win10)?

I m considering starting bootcamp on my 2012 mac air. But I have this old software that I need to download for work that was made for winXP, and I also need win10 for school. I ve read about win10 s compatibility mode but will it still work even if you never upgraded from an older operating system? (Aka started purely from win10?)

I used to run the old software on virtual box but I don t have enough space to have 3 operating systems, and I m hoping I can run both windows applications on win10.

YES, compatability mode is meant for this, however Windows XP and a lot of older games and programs ran from DOS which XP and any windows OS older than it ran off of, nowadays DOS takes a back seat to the OS and is no longer used as much and as such many older programs just refuse to run simply because DOS is no longer the main OS of the computer.

It may run in compatibility mode, right click the .exe file or setup file click properties there should be a small window pop up, there should be a compatibility tab, click it and you should see a box that says compatibility mode check it off and change the OS from Windows Vista to Windows XP Service Pack 3.

If that doesn't work then the next best thing is to try and install Oracal VMware and install Windows XP to it in order the run the program.

That is if you desperately need it.

sure you can download it. Downloading is not the same as installing or running the program.
