What is sin and why is it something the bible talks about so much?

A simple but accurate definition of sin is:

- disobeying the express will of God

The Bible talks about sin because

- all people sin

- God, being just, punishes sin

- - - most Christians believe: God punishes sin with eternal torment

- but God is willing to forgive sin under certain circumstances (basically: when God's followers obey certain instructions given by God)

sin is like a demerit you get enough and you burn in hell but you can have them removed by doing good also some sins are more serious and require more penance

It's basically not following what you know in your heart is the right thing to do. It's all about intuition

The basic meaning of the word "sin" is: "Missing the mark."

it is disobedience to God

Wrongdoing in the eyes of God.

It's a spoken word or act which displeases our God and King, YHWH.

It is talked about so much since being guilty of sin is the difference between life and death.

so consists of unrighteous passions - what some people describe as "incontinence."
