How did World War Two soldiers learn they were being drafted?

I'm writing a musical and was wondering; after Pearl Harbor, how did people learn there was a war? Was it like Mulan where someone rode around spreading the news? Was it on TV? Please provide a link if you can.

    It was on the radio. All men of a certain age were 'drafted'.
