How much combat do Army Armor Officers see?
Just curious how much combat armor officers actually see. What is their main job on a day to day basis, is it like a desk job?

Chase,
I know you are concerned about combat. Most positions are not immune. There are basically three items to consider in that context:
1. Global conflict is at its highest in several decades.
2. Risk of PTSD can be just as high in the reserves as active duty.
3. There are also other risks that are higher for vets than civilians: PTSD, LEGAL drug use, smoking, domestic abuse, divorce, suicide, compulsive sexual disorder, etc.
I am pasting two articles below, one on world conflict and the other on PTSD risk for guard/reserves. If you'd like more information, then please check the comment section for my expanded answer. It's a Yahoo*Best*Answer.

If they are company grade, Captain and below, and the assigned unit is in a combat zone, the officer will see what combat the unit is involved in. If the officer is field grade, Major and above, it will depend on the specific assignment of the officer and he role his unit of assignment is involved with.

well, action depends on being deployed into a war zone. most aren't deployed, so training and maintenance are the order of the day
