Is not what happened yesterday at NFL games a right under the first amendment ?

Ok, now, when will liberals stand up for the free speech rights of conservatives?

This is NOT about the 1st amendment. It's about an employer, i.e., a team owner, having the RIGHT to set standards of behavior for his employees, i.e., the players. Any employer could fire the butts of any employee who discredits their business and definitely if what they do turns customers, i.e., viewers away and drops sales of seats. And that is exactly what is happening with these spoiled, over-paid punks who don't care about the consequences of their action on their team name and the NFL in general.

Yes they have the right to protest. And fans have the right to boycott. Freedom of speech.

They have a right to do it and other people have a right to respond.

OK, I will try to explain something you should have learned in the fourth grade at a level that ought to be understandable to a third grader.

The Bill of Rights guarantees your freedom to speak and express yourself, protecting you from governmental action. It can never be made illegal, absent an amendment to the Constitution. Every one has the right to "protest".

And everyone else has the right to counter protest. Including the fans that booed the "protesters", the President who felt strongly that their protests were disrespectful, the owners that whined at the President, and the heretofore nonexistent management/ownership/coaching staff who could in the future punish the "protesters" for doing their thing on company time.

The Freedom is from being jailed or otherwise facing punishment by the government. It isn't about any response you might get from other individuals or non-governmental entities.

You have a Constitutional Right to speak. Not a Constitutional Right to be heard.

Or, as I more colloquially put it, you have a Constitutionally guaranteed right to be an as$hole. but no right to compel me to cheer you for being one.

What? The teams expressing solidarity against someone who can't do his own job but thinks that he can do everyone's?

The 1st Amendment protects freedom of speech,. including non-verbal speech such as kneeling during the anthem. NFL owners are free to fire players for violating the league's behavior policy. There's a reason we haven't seen that yet.

Now why can't liberals also defend conservative speakers at colleges, who aren't allowed to speak?
