How long does the smell of Rotten egg last?

I dropped 2 eggs on my deck and they slithered in between the wooden beams to the dirt underneath before I could pick it up. The smell is nauseating. How long will the smell linger? What can i pour on top to kill the smell ?

    yuck. but its good for the soil! it will be gone in a few days...

    Copious amounts of water will work.

    Mix some vinegar & water.
