Why do I experience sudden rapid, hard heart beats and heavy breathing? PLEASE ANSWER :(?
I am a 17-year-old girl and for the past six months or so, I ve been having these random episodes which involve heavy and rapid heart beats. These heart beats are so fast and heavy that I can feel it throughout the whole upper half of my body. I also start breathing heavily. These episodes last around 5-15 minutes and it usually happens when I m trying to sleep or if I m laying down. It s not anxiety or anything because it happens at times where I don t have anything to be anxious about and I also take anti-anxiety medication every day. What is wrong with me?

Some medications have unusual side effects like you describe.
Including anti-depressants.
It could be palpitations caused by anxiety. Even hormonal changes
can cause that. You would have to discuss with a caring doctor.

Definitely sounds like a panic/anxiety attack like someone else said.
I’ve dealt with those when I took a completely out of the blue trip to a new city that I haven’t been to, I rarely venture out and do new things by myself, had one when I was leaving the city, had one on the plane, and then had one when I got home. I found petting my cat to be an extremely helpful tool. When I started petting her, she calmed me down almost immediately.
Just find something that will calm you down a little, obviously these things suck but you can manage them and most of all get through them. I was in denial when my mom was telling me it was a panic attack until I googled the symptoms and they fit me perfectly.

It sounds exactly like a panic/anxiety attack. They may come out of nowhere and make you feel like you are dieing, in which you are not. Your mind is your enemy here, just keep telling yourself you KNOW it is anxiety, breathe in through nose, out through mouth. Relax.

There could be a few reasons. The first that comes to mind might be tachycardia which is a rapid heart rate. Sometimes there is no way to know what brings it on. I had this happen to me one time and I was terrified. The Drs couldnt find anything wrong and its never happened again. On the other had you could also have what us alternative types refer to as an 'Entrapment' . If you look up information on your diaphragm which is a muscle that is connected to your lungs, it has three holes. One is for your esophagus, one is for your aorta to pass through the diaphragm and one is so that your main vein (the vena cava) can pass through the diaphragm. Sometimes our stomach or small intestines can get stuck in the aortic hole and that cause those symptoms. This can easily be resolved.

It could be from your anti-anxiety medication. Even if it's a side effect, you may want to find a better medication that your body can handle better.
Have you also seen your doctor yet? Something might be going on that you don't know about. You may need to be tested to figure out what is going on with your heart. I definitely recommend talking to your doctor or the doctor that prescribed you your medication to figure out what is going on because rapid heart beats and heavy breathing is serious if it's not caused by exercising.
