Theologically speaking, what is your biblical understanding to allow same-sex marriage within the church?

I am researching Christian churches that endorse same-sex marriage. For those who share the same theology, how do you theologically justify this belief in contrast to the traditional opposition to same-sex marriage for Christians?

In my understanding of the Scripture, same sex marriage in the church cannot be justified biblically. The very attempt to redefine marriage to mean a union of two men or two women flies in the face of God's design and purpose for Man..

Because initially the prohibition was for health reasons. After that people jumped on the band wagon to rally people around a common hatred.

    Deutronomy 22:22. 1 Corinthians 6:9.

Which means that same sex marriage is highly displeasing to our Creator and any "faiths" that advocate it, are going against the very One they claim to worship.

Why not research the huge number on their second, third or even forth marriage within the church? Why not research why the Pope wants to allow divorced people to marry in church?

Why do you accept ignoring the bible for your own ends whilst hiding behind God to practice homophobia, intolerance and persecution towards others?!

Christianity is being criminalised by the false Christians within it!!!!!!!

Thankfully in our DEMOCRACY the CRIMINAL LAW is used to deal with the terrible intolerance, hatred, bigotry, homophobia and persecution by BAD Christians towards others that is rated as HATE CRIME with harsher sentences!

This is taken from a book written by a Church of Scotland ordained minister, who is now retired and wrote about the development within that church which now allows same-sex marriages to be conducted within its church buildings, by their clergymen. He is no longer a member of the C of S and his two sons (also ordained ministers there) resigned and left, now being ministers of other denominations that stick to the biblical teaching on marriage. First quote, he's dealing with the question of what church ministers would be allowed to say to a homosexual couple getting 'married' in that church:

"This was a suggested wording for clergymen in a Report to a General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 2013:

A prayer of thanks was for God's "guidance in the lives of N... and N... [i.e. John & Jim, or Mary & Wendy], for the joy they have found in each other and for the love and trust they bring to the happiness of this day"; The vow would be: 'In the presence of God, and before these witnesses, I, N... affirm my love for you, N..., and my commitment to our partnership. I promise to love and respect you, to be faithful and loyal to you, for as long as we live'; and the minister would then say, "N... and N..., may God's richest blessing be upon you both. May God give you joy in your life together."

Over quite a few years it has gradually moved ground from being based on the Bible as the word of God, to dismissing the Bible as merely having the word of God contained in it. This is not an endorsement of ALL of the Bible BEING the word of God. No. Only bits of the Bible are said to be the word of God, with other things also being found in the Bible. And, needless to say, it no longer believes that the Bible's condemnation of homosexuality is the word of God. The rot first set in back in 1929 with wording to their Article 1 to encourage the United Free Church to join with the national church - the use of 'contained in' permitted compromise over the authority of Scripture. The chickens have now come home to roost. Their 2009 General Assembly approved of the induction of a homosexual minister.

That church has declared itself to be the arbiter for deciding the sense of what its Confession means "and with due regard to liberty of opinion in points which do not enter into the substance of the Faith." Since 2009 it has decided that homosexuality is a matter of opinion that does not enter into the substance of Christian faith. It has effectively elevated itself above the Bible and so has rejected the authority of God's word. As R.B. Kuiper has pointed out, "That the Word of God is in the Bible is a half-truth which frequently implies a falsehood. The truth of the matter is that the Bible is the Word of God." (1)

Martin Luther apparently said, "If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the Word of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing him. Where the battle rages there the loyalty of the soldier is proved; and to be steady on all the battle front besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point." (2)

Homosexuality is the current battle the world and the devil are waging against Christ's Church, and some professed soldiers of Christ have not only flinched - they have retreated and allowed the enemy to flood in. The immense lobbying to promote homosexuality is waged by social libertines in the public square, and the public church in some places has bowed to those libertines in order to be seen "keeping up with the times". No doubt they think this will make them more popular with the public but in this country thousands of that church's members have voted with their feet and left the church, with at least 40 ordained ministers setting the example. They have not flinched. They have not fled the battlefield. They have walked away from generals urging compromise. So please do not mistakenly think that just because homosexuality is being accepted in some quarters of the church that all Christians go along with that fatal compromise based on rejecting the Bible as the word of God."

Churches that conduct same sex marriages are not Christian churches. If I put on a white housecoat, hung a stethescope around my neck and called myself a surgeon, would you accept my 'medical' advice?

Biblically speaking, there is no justification for churches to allow same sex marriage. "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and the two shall be one flesh." Got it? Man and wife?

Does the Bible Comment on Same-Sex Marriages?

Our Creator established rules governing marriage long before governments began regulating the institution.

The opening book of the Bible tells us: A man will leave his father and his mother and he must stick to his wife and they must become one flesh. Genesis 2:24

The Hebrew word wife, according to Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, connotes one who is a female human being.

Jesus confirmed that those yoked together in marriage should be male and female. Matthew 19:4

Thus, God intended marriage to be a permanent, intimate bond between a man and a woman. Men and women are designed to complement each other so they may be capable of satisfying each other’s emotional and sexual needs and of providing children.

If they except homosexuality they are not following the bible, which is awesome because they are exercising well thought out subjective morality.
