I am a firm believer in God, I have accepted Jesus Christ as my savior, and I hold the Scriptures as the inerrant Word of God. I also believe that Christianity, science, and logic can go hand-in-hand. I enjoy Y!As not only because it gives me a chance to answer questions and learn from other Christians, but it gives me a chance to hear arguments from the other side of my belief. My goal is not to convert, but to address questions others have about Christianity. I want to try to help those who are wondering about what to believe in and those who are seeking answers. I want to show that you can think, evaluate science, and be educated while at the same time be a Christian.
Spiritually speaking, what are the benefits to being single / unmarried?
Follow up question for Christians: Is it wrong to not pursue marriage?
Asking since tomorrow is Singles Awareness Day.
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality3 months agoTheists, would you marry an atheist? Atheists, would you marry a theist?
If so, how would you make that work?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality3 months agoWhat is your preferred Bible translation?
When reading to just read, I prefer the NIV since it balances world-for-world with thought-for-thought. However, when I need to study something in the Bible, I much prefer the ESV or NASB. I'm curious what your go-to translation is and why.
57 AnswersReligion & Spirituality3 months agoSpiritually speaking, who answers in R&S?
I've been away for a few years so I'm not sure who are regulars are anymore, but
I'm curious to what type of people now answer in R&S, both atheists and theists.
Are there people with education in theology, philosophy, or physics? Lay people? Pastors? Writers? Just curious.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality3 months agoSpiritually speaking, if Nazi Germany won the war would morality change?
If Nazi Germany won the war and eventually succeeded in taking over the word and brain-washing everyone into believing their doctrine, would it still be morally wrong to kill Jews even thought the majority of the world thinks it's right?
18 AnswersPhilosophy4 years agoRoman Catholic friends, why speak to a priest when needing to confess? Why not pray directly to Jesus?
Spiritually speaking, of course.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoTheologically speaking, what is your biblical understanding to allow same-sex marriage within the church?
I am researching Christian churches that endorse same-sex marriage. For those who share the same theology, how do you theologically justify this belief in contrast to the traditional opposition to same-sex marriage for Christians?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoWhat is a positive argument for the nonexistence of God?
I hear a lot of negative arguments that attack Christian arguments, but does anyone know of a positive argument? A positive argument states the criterion for the position and correctly deduces it which premises that support their conclusion.
Just curious.

Was there an actual person named Jesus from Nazareth making the claims the Bible says he made?

22 AnswersSociety & Culture7 years agoHow does morality come from evolution?
When people ask where morality comes from, a common answer I hear is evolution. This perplexes me.How can evolution determine morality if the evolutionary process involves survival of the fittest?
I understand creating morals in order to protect the populace, like a "herd instinct," but when it makes the most sense to protect oneself, we do dangerous moral things all the time. It is considered moral to rush into traffic to save a child, run into a burning building to save a life, and dive on top of a grenade to save our peers. Our instinct tells us to "Run!" but morality tells us to sacrifice yourself.
Animals behave by instinct, like evolution would demand of them, but humans don't. Why is that?
(I don't mean for this answer to argue a case that morality does not come from evolution. I want to know how this fits into the argument of morality coming from evolution)

Can you have a same-sex attraction, but not have a same-sex orientation or gay identity?
5 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender7 years agoSpiritually speaking, is it wrong to ask the same questions in R&S?
Occasionally I'll ask the same questions here in R&S. Most of the time I already know the answer, or have an answer to it, but I am looking for what other's have to say on the matter. Is that misusing Answers?
I also do it because I see so many trollish questions here and want the chance to see some real though provoking answers.
Is that wrong?
