Why do we still use unit Nautical Mile ?

Why can't they abolish the term and replace it with the ordinary mile ?

    Many folks still use Boats to navigate Planet Earth across the Oceans v. driving a Car down I-95.

    The curvature of the Earth makes a difference across Oceans v. driving down I-95 200 miles.

    Because it's still used in Maritime Navigation and countries with Professional Navies.
