Perfectly safe in the UK. All chickens used for commercial egg production are inoculated against salmonella.

Raw and undercooked eggs may contain Salmonella, a type of harmful bacteria. This bacteria can be found on egg shells but also inside eggs.

You are playing the odds because one out of every two hundred eggs will be tainted and give you food poisoning.

    It is not recommended.

No as you can get Salmonella poisoning.

It does not matter if the egg shell is not cracked and "clean."

No egg shell is totally "clean."

Egg shells make great compost for plants after you use the yolk. The calcium of the shell will help feed the plant.

You can buy in the dairy department processed (pasteurized) egg yoke in a carton.

There is a possibility of salmonella poisoning.

Very little protein is available to humans unless eggs are cooked.

No, as any individual raw egg carries the potential for contamination with salmonella, which is eliminated by cooking.

That's a bit of a dumb question unless you tell us what country you're in!

Yes, unless you're very old or young or have a compromised immune system.

You can read much more about why that's true in *my* previous answer here:

It is if you want to take the risk. Its a low number of eggs that are infected with Salmonella but some ARE. Doesn't matter if the egg is clean or not cracked as the hen is infected so the inside of the egg also is.

Like I said, its rare but you can decide if you want to take the risk.

I still lick the bowl when I make a cake or grab a dab of raw cookie dough..haven't ever been sick from that and I am nearly 65 years old.

Depends where you get your eggs, British eggs are just not meant raw but organic, fresher eggs are fine. (take not if you have lower immunity, then i'll say do not risk it)
