What is your major and why did you pick it? College Students?
Just out of curiosity I wanted to see why people choose what they do
Whats your major?
Why did you pick that major? What do you like about it?
What do you plan to do with that degree?
Me:
Im a political science major planning to go to law school. I love the subject because pretty much nothing is black and white. Almost anything is defendable or twistable. There is usually no straight right or wrong answer as long as you can reason it. I love the whole debate part and hearing other people s reasonings. Plus, what goes on in the government affects everyone no matter whether people like it or not.

Accounting just because it is always going to be in demand and the pay is well right out of college (was for me and a few other friends who are now accountants.)
At first I did change my major a few times... I had no idea... I just knew I wanted to have a stable career and make a nice salary.
I originally wished to become a Psychologist, but 10 years of schooling for a PhD? No thanks!
I would of loved studying psychology much more than accounting.. accounting in my opinion can be boring, but again, it pays really well and will always be stable for the future.

Whats your major?
Applied Mathematics, Concentration in Economics & Actuarial Science
Why did you pick that major?
I was originally a Computer Engineering major, but I soon realized that I would not survive in there after Physics Mechanics & my first programming class (programming in C). Rethought my future.. The math in engineering made me realize that I was AMAZIIING at math! I also LOOVED my math classes (note: I can watch 3+ hours of math videos) and professors (felt more connected with them); they actually knew me.., and I just felt like I belonged more to the math department despite being in Comp Engr.
Loved it, and felt I'd actually survive there.
What do you like about it?
I'll get to keep taking math classes, and remain around my fav math faculty :) AND the average Actuary salary in the U.S. is $97k/year, but $126k/year in myyy city (San Jose). Yay!
What do you plan to do with that degree?
Math grad school or become an Actuary. Maybe both at the same time? Don't know yet!

Just remember that if you fail to get into law school. a poly-sci degree rarely leads to employment that uses it. So said the parent of an economics major whose school tossed in poli-sci as a second major by taking 3 extra courses. It turned out very well in the long run.

I studied History. It had always been my favorite subject, from childhood, and I wanted to teach it. I had thought I would teach it on the high school level, but in college, I realized that I wanted to become a scholar -- not just to read and teach other people's research but to do my own.
I ended up earning a PhD, and now I am a museum curator and I teach at a university.

My major is wildlife conservation. It is a biology course and I love it because biology amazes me, and I am a huge animal person. Plus hopefully a job in the field will allow me to work on big issues with animal conservation around the world, as I also love to travel. I guess it's a bit of wishful thinking but I'm still going to hope
