Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes?

What would be the signs having diabetes, particularly type 2?

I have been gaining a significant amount of weight this year in excess of 20kgs, which has me being well overweight. I am 165cm and weigh between 90-93kgs depending how naughty I am.

I do eat about 60-70g of sugar a day, which is considerably lower than the Australian health limit of 90g. However I have yet to feel limited due to my weight or have any health concerns right now.

Both types of diabetes causes high sugar levels.

The early symptoms of high sugar levels are the same no matter which type is causing it.

By the time you notice symptoms, you are past the "pre-diabetes" stage and you are already a diabetic.

Audrey is right about the first symptoms being thirst, frequent urination, fatigue and unreasonable hunger. The urination will also most likely be bad enough to cause you to need to get up a few times each night to pee.

To catch issues early, an annual physical with your doctor is a good idea. This could catch the warning signs of diabetes BEFORE you even notice that you are developing it. At that stage, there is still time to make the right changes to reduce the risk of actually advancing into diabetes. The "pre-diabetic" stage has no symptoms. Sugar levels aren't high enough to be causing noticeable issues in the earliest stage of "pre-diabetes".

Obesity is not the only cause of diabetes and not every fat person will develop diabetes. It is possible to be fat and not be diabetic. My sister is extremely obese, 66 yrs old, and not diabetic. (obesity and age are both risk factors, yet she is not diabetic.)
