I am 20, 5’4 and finished high school at a weight of 79kgs (174lbs). It has been a year and a bit since, and have gained about 15kgs (33lbs).

How has your weight fared since high school?

  • Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes?

What would be the signs having diabetes, particularly type 2?

I have been gaining a significant amount of weight this year in excess of 20kgs, which has me being well overweight. I am 165cm and weigh between 90-93kgs depending how naughty I am.

I do eat about 60-70g of sugar a day, which is considerably lower than the Australian health limit of 90g. However I have yet to feel limited due to my weight or have any health concerns right now.

  • Can being overweight affect vision?

I have a number of friends who have gained a lot of weight since finishing high school, and most of them now wear glasses, and they never did in the past.

Can it be true that being overweight can link to issues with vision or the need to wear glasses?

  • Do I look dangerously overweight?

I have been gaining a little weight lately, been indulging a bit too much at the rush of seminar lunches at work.

Have bumped up a size or two in recent times, and family have been getting concerned about my weight.

I am content with my weight and wellbeing but will take action if there are health concerns. Should I be doing something about my weight?

  • Will I become a Type 2 Diabetic?

    Hi guys,

I'm fairly concerned of myself becoming a Type 2 Diabetic. I'm 19, my height is 165cm or 5'5 and weigh somewhere around 85kgs or 190lbs, which makes me pretty overweight.

I've recently gained a lot of weight (about 15kgs over six months) much through to stress of my desk job and self negligence in regards to my diet an exercise.

For much of my life, I have been a reasonably healthy person, exercised 4 hours weekly, and ate according to my needs, plus an unhealthy day once a week.

Since my weight began to catch up to me, through calculations of my own, I've now been consuming an average of 80g of sugar a day! I have been exercising less lately, about one or two hours a week.

My family is mixed in regards to health. Mother's side is generally in good shape but they smoke daily (Mother not included), and my Father's side have a good life expectancy history, but my Father, Aunty and one of my cousins have experienced weight problems at least once in their lives.

So, on the back of the information above, will I develop Type 2 Diabetes in the near future? Am I in danger at my current weight?
