How can I keep a job with divorced parents?? Please read details!?

I have a job and I am 16. My parents separated 6 Year’s ago and I live with my mother in Tampa while my dad lives in Orlando. My parents have Made regulated visitation days so I can visit my dad. One thing is that during summer break I will be 17 and I just like every other year I visit my dad for those 7 weeks of summer. Unfortunately I don’t want to have to quit to visit my dad and I want to work around this. I feel like my dads going to be about it and make me quit. I haven’t talk to him about it yet but I feel that a 17 year old about to be senior is grown enough to decide where he needs to be and I want to keep a job. I really don’t want to lose a job to stay under my dads roof for weeks. I love him but I feel like I should decide for once.

And so you should. Jobs are not so plentiful that you can give one up. You are nearly an adult and both your parents really have to respect that.

at 17, it's time to make the break. parents bring up kids to be able to make decisions and live on their one day

I think you have a good point and if you don't get upset when talking to him, you can make it. But before you do, look for a compromise with him about how you can spend time with him, but perhaps not as much. Make the same argument to your boss to get the time off.

Just talk to your Dad...let him know that you really like this job n don't want to have to leave it ....perhaps he'll come up with a solution you both can live with*......but yes, u are almost 17 n should be able to decide where u want to spend ur summers...but your Dad im sure really wants to spend time with you*. talk to him about how you're feeling these days* Goodluck*
