The California Libs outlawed prescribed , controlled burns decades ago leading to , in some cases , 50 years of unburned fuel .

I grew up in So Cal and remember when they used to do controlled burns to eliminate accumulated brush that creates wildfire hazards .

Actually if you watch closely, many if not most of the burning acreage in southern California is not made up of trees. Those fires are burning shrubs. Low lying dry shrubs.

There are some trees to be sure. But look around, most of the areas are devoid of trees. LA and San Diego lie in a semi-arid desert area. Trees are not abundant in those desert areas. But dry brush, like tumbleweeds are everywhere. And that's what's burning over most of the area.

You know nothing about California, do you? Most of the wildfires do NOT involve large trees, but small bushes, many of which hold sap that is highly flammable. Without these bushes, however, you would have mud slides on all the hills. So it is a trade-off.

One of the hazards perhaps of chasing a dream. Must be delightful to live in a forest area with that sort of privacy, space, and seclusion, until there is a forest fire of course. I would love to live beside a river, but the first flood would undoubtedly change my mind as I saw all my possessions flow down to the sea.

Very difficult to 'have your pie and eat it', and some advantages are bound to produce their own possible problems. There is no practical answer, and you can only live with choice which you made..

Normal are the fires in the forests. Unable to grow without them, new trees are.

Wildfires are caused by dry underbrush fires that then spread into the trees

You forgot the word 'cut' and misspelled who's.

    No noble prize for you.

But really though. Deforestation has countless repercussions, including loss of habitat for wildlife, increase levels of carbon dioxide and higher water levels. Just off the top of my head...

Who would even want a Nobel Prize? They gave Obama a peace prize, and he was at war every year of his presidency.

There is no Nobel Prize for leaving a word out.
