The one that stars Errol Flynn!

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)

The reason you know it's the best is that no one has ever tried to remake and improve on the Errol Flynn's swashbuckling version because they know they can't. Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe tried to make Robin Hood serious and socially relevant, and neither one succeeded. Other than those, it's either been a comedy or a cartoon.

None of them are very good. Seriously. If you had to choose one, it's pretty terrible: Robin Hood Prince of Thieves (starring Kevin Costner and Alan Rickman).

The version starring Crowe and Blanchett is incredibly long, unfulfilling, dull, and proposes a lot of convoluted "historical" nonsense. It's only bonus is that it looks nice.

    I'm not recommending either.

To be honest the best version, which is probably not what you're looking for is the Disney Robin Hood.
