Obamacare Mandate inflict it again; should Democrats make this the central message of future campaigns?

No - they should drive home Republicans' complete ineffectiveness in repealing it; they tried 70+ times to get rid of Obamacare. There might be another effort at "repeal," while the GOP remains the majority until Jan of 2019, but the "replace" ain't gonna happen.

Democrats will eliminate a need for mandate by instituting single payer insurance. no one will have to buy healthcare insurance again.

Personally, I don’t think the mandate matters.
I believe the cat is out of the bag. 8.8 million Americans signed up on the exchange, many From red states, because they realized that the only way to get a good deal from insurers, is to go the exchanges. Even when they know that republicans want to repeal the law.
Check it out. Small businesses, independent contractors, etc.
My conclusion is that you are afraid Americans would like it.
