Is it too late to build a career at 35 years old?
I feel so depressed right now. I worked in the call center and hotel industry but I ended up moving to small travel agency for almost 2 months now and for some reason I am having difficulty adjusting. I feel so stupid and useless and I have thought of moving into another career which I dont know. Any of you who have carved a mark at your late 30s?

I was in retail commission sales for 15 years. Tough job, and I wasn t good enough to make much money. My family was sprouting, and I was committed to bettering myself from an occupation standpoint.
I d flunked out of school my first time around, aced partying but flunked everything else. Then at 37, and with a family, I went back to a business school and got a two-year certificate in accounting and took writing classes. I worked a short time as a tax preparer, then I saw a job opening writing for a tax publication. I applied, got the job, and not too long after I realized I was really good at it. Fast forward a few years and I was an editor, senior editor, and my last 12 years have been as executive editor. I made enough to retire comfortably, which I m doing after this month. I made more than I ever imagined I would.
They say that "luck" is "preparation meeting opportunity." That s exactly what I felt like after I went back to school. If I hadn t taken those courses, I never would have even applied in that industry.
Suggest considering taking some classes in either a degree or certificate program. Prepare yourself so you can create your own "luck."

No. Ronald Reagan was older than that when he changed careers for the second time (he was originally a sportscaster, then a movie actor, and finally a politician) and he eventually become President. Come to think of it, Donald Trump was even older when he changed careers to politics and he also become President.

No, if you got time to live, live it in the best way possible. And if that is starting your own business is what makes it the best life than I say go for it!

Sort of. I didn't start trying to get a college degree, until I was around 27.
Better late than never.

No my friend. Its never too late. I'll give you two great testimonies. I used to work in education as a paraprofessional. At the school I was at, one year we got this new teacher who was, if I remember correctly, 40yrs old. She started college young, dropped out had a family, then went back and finished. She came back and started teaching at 40. Then I had a couple of co-workers who retired but became aids. That's literally another career since it had benefits and stuff even if it was just part-time. Now I hope that bring some clarity into your question. Its never too late. I mean if you have experience and worth ethics then people will hire you. Don't stop achieving your dream. Only you can stop you and as always.. may the Force be with you. (sorry the Start Wars part goes with my character but everything else was serious)

You are never too old to put your mind to anything if you are determined enough. I was studying with a lot of people in their 30's and 40's in college. There are a lot more opportunities to change your career at an older age when compared to years ago

I went from accounting to a mortgage lender in my 40's. Best move I ever made!
