Is it legal to have an unloaded rifle in your home UK if it's just to practice targeting and holding a gun for target shooting only?
My boyfriend has a full gun licence as he goes shooting at a local range. He wants to take me with him but has suggested I borrow one of his rifles (unloaded) to practice just looking through the scope and carrying it around.
Is this legal in the UK? I do not have a gun licence. It would never be loaded in my house though.
UPDATE: The gun will NOT leave my house and no other human being will even see it.

If you can't legally have a loaded gun, you can't legally have an unloaded gun.

Hello Ven,
If you carry a gun or rifle, loaded or unloaded in public view you will immediately arrested and could serve prison time, especially as you don't personally have a licence.
It is always possible that you could be shot too because if you are seen with a gun or rifle then the Armed Response Team will be on you pretty darn quick.
Part of the provisos for obtaining a licence is to ensure that any weapon owned is kept in a very secure location with a strong lock securing it.
I hope your boyfriend has this because if not his licence to keep firearms will undoubtedly be rescinded.

well holding a toy gun got one man shot dead by police so it is unwise to been seen you have private relations at home that would be illegal in the street so you are discreet its the same thing you see we have terrorists and we have people wary you do the maths and if shooting a gun floats your boat be discreet its used too much for bad things for me
