Should we associate Japanese anime and manga with Japan's political and / or religious views ? Why and why not ?

Unless the anime or Manga created is political propaganda no. They may be a have certain aspects of the political or religious views but to associate the mangas with that is wrong

No because anime/manga are fiction and have nothing to do with real life politics or religion even if they have them shown in some way or form. You should never take fiction seriously enough to add them into any real issue like politics or religion, it doesn't belong there nor should it ever.

Most of them are based on Western Culture. But, some of them are based on Animism Culture. Animism Culture was lost in Europe in A.D. 8th century. Charles the Grate forced people to believe in Chiristianity and prohibited Animism in Holy Roman Empire. No English people now do religious occasions in Megalithic Stones in England. Animism Culture are alive purely only in Japan as one of the developed countries.

'Princess Mononoke', and ’Spirited Away’ are the tipical things.

Nature conservation movement in Japan is supported very much under Animism Culture.

'Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon' would be based on another minior culture in Japan. 'The Tale of Genji' was a classic novel written in A.D.1021.

Both of them does not tell about heros but heroines mainly. These things are far from the others in the world. I cannot tell more because I am a male. They are worth of watching or reading for ladies in the world.
