In america, after graduating high school do people go to college or in university level where you get a degree?

For us, grade 11 and 12 is college and after graduation we enter university to get bachelor's degree.

I also want to know how many years does it take to get a bachelor's degree in medical in america? I heard someone say 10 years including housejob which is 2 years.

What drip said, for the most part.

We go to high school (typically) ages 14-17. High school is free, and more than 90% of U.S. children complete high school.

The terms "college" and "university" are more or less synonymic in the U.S. The distinction is one of size: a "college" awards only bachelor's degrees, with a smattering of academic graduate degrees; a "university" consists for several undergraduate "colleges" (e.g Arts and Sciences, Business, Nursing, Engineering, Education, etc.) and professional graduate schools (e.g. Law, Medicine, Dentistry, etc.). However, you say you are "going to college" if you are enrolled in any bachelor's degree program, whether you are enrolled in a small liberal arts college or a large university.

Another distinction is "community college" or "junior college" which are two-(or so) year colleges that grant associate's degrees. They can either be terminal degrees that are vocational in nature, such as dental hygiene, veterinary technology, or radiological technology; or "transfer" degrees that stand in for the first two years of a bachelor's degree. People enrolled in the latter transfer to a four-year university after two years at community college.

In the U.S., medical school is graduate school; you need to get a four-year bachelor's degree first. Medical school itself is another four years. Then you becomes a "resident" in your field of choice (or in whatever field you can get a placement; it's quite competitive). The length of residencies vary by field and by hospital; e.g. general surgery might be five years, neurosurgery seven years, and pediatrics might be three years.

If 11 and 12 is college, what college degree do you earn? Sounds to me as if, even if you CALL it "college", it is preparation for college.

It takes approximately 120 semester credit hours to earn a bachelors degree. At 15 hours per semester, with summers off, that is 45 months.

However, a medical degree is an advanced degree -- the equivalent of a PhD, plus more. To become a physician in the US, it takes a minimum of 12 years AFTER grade 12/high school.

I have no idea what you mean by "housejob".

The US doesn’t not offer a Bachelor degree in medicine. You need a four year Bachelor degree, take the MCAT exam and apply to medical school. Which is another four years. Then residency at a hospital. That can be another two years.

High school is four years. Students graduate at about age 18, the. Go on to college.

College/university basically the same thing . Both offer four year Bachelor degree. US students call both college. ie- I am going to college this fall at Ohio State University.

In the US, high school goes through 12th grade. After that you are in college, and "college" and "university" mean the same thing. A bachelor's degree is supposed to take 4 yrs, but only about half of students actually finish in 4. Most take 5.

If you want to be a doctor, you need a lot more than a bachelor's degree. It takes 8 yrs or so, 10 if you want to be a surgeon or specialist.

After 12 years of high school, some Americans go to college or university for 4 years. Then they can go to medical school for 4 years. Then, depending on specialty, the students go to 3 or more years of residency in a hospital.
