Does this shy guy like me?

In term one of my feshman year in highschool. This guy and I had some really good conversations and after I would notice him staring at me. In the beginning of our sophomore year we kinda grew apart because we didn't have many classes togethr. However. We have a class together now and sometimes I catch him staring at me in the hallways and class but he will look away when I look back at him. Also everyday when class is over and everyone leaving he waits (even if his friends have all left the classroom) until I'm about to leave and then lets me go infront of him and he'll walk behind me and then part ways. He doesn't say anything though which is expected because he's shy lol. Also when I'm around him and he's with his friends he tries to act tough. What do you guys think?
